Audio Files
These links allow you to hear how the flow of each scene or video goes. They are not for showing you exactly how each line should sound. You will get them to sound like your character would say them as you learn them and practice them. The recordings are to help you feel the speed and pacing of the scene, and to give you something to practice with when you don’t have a friend or family member handy.
If you have a speaking part, these audio files will be just one part of your practice strategy.
How to Learn Speaking Parts
- Start by highlighting all of your lines in your script
- Pro Tip: Also highlight the last word or two of any lines that are right before your lines. Use a different highlighter color for those.
- Every time you practice saying your lines aloud, read the last part of the line before yours in another voice. (Use a silly voice for that one if you like!)
- Writing things helps lock them into your memory. Go through your script at least once with a separate notebook or some lined paper and write out every one of your lines.
- Listen through the audio files (below) that go with your scenes. Try to have a different goal every time you listen: (This time, I’m listening to understand how this scene fits into the overall story. This time, I’m listening to imagine what the people in the scene are doing physically. Are they waving their arms? Standing? Sitting? Running away while saying things? This time, I’m listening to see if I can hear all of the line-endings that come before my lines. This time, I’m going to say my lines along with the audio without looking at my script. etc.) Don’t do all of these in one day. Space out your listening over many different days.
- Get a friend or family member to go through your scenes with you. Do this only once or twice with a script in your hands. Every time after that, ask the other person to give you the first part of a line if you need it, but ONLY if you ask for it by saying ‘line’. If you have a long pause but you finally remember it, that’s better than asking for ‘line’, but if you’re truly stuck, ask for the line.
- When you can deliver your lines smoothly, loudly, and comfortably, you’ll be ready for our practice sessions when we get together. Remember, the actor does the work of learning their lines way before they show up for a practice with the other actors. When everyone is together, that’s the Director’s chance to cover a lot of information about where people are standing, coming from, or going, where and how props are used, and a million other things. It’s not the Director’s job to help you learn your lines while the rest of the cast stands around wishing that we could move on with the practice.
- If you do want the Director to help you learn your lines, that can be arranged, but set up a time for that outside of our group practices.

10,000 Reasons Practice Track.m4a - Quiet backing track with soloist parts (verses) and choruses (choir parts) played clearly. NOTE: This track has a short instrumental removed from the middle and a few measures of instrumental removed from the ending, so this track is slightly different from the song video below. This Practice Track is also in the key that we’ll use: D. This is the way we’ll sing it in the program, so please learn it like this Practice Track!
Song Video without Lyrics
The video above is the arrangement of the song we’ll do. Note that it starts with Verse One instead of a Chorus.
The video has the song in C, but we determined that D will be the best key for everyone, so note that when we sing this in Choir each week it’ll be a little higher than this video.
